U.S. Navy officer, Viewpoint grad returns, inspires

Viewpoint School’s Class of 2026 heard from alumnus Brenden Rodriquez ’16 at its June 6 commencement. A “Lifer” who attended Viewpoint from kindergarten through 12th grade, Rodriquez returned to the Calabasas campus a decade after his graduation to speak to students, families, faculty, staff, trustees and alumni. Rodriquez, a native of Agoura Hills, graduated from Harvard University in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in engineering sciences before joining the U.S. Navy. He is a lieutenant and naval flight officer serving as a weapons systems officer with Strike Fighter Squadron 22 (VFA-22) and has deployed aboard the USS Nimitz in support of operations within the U.S. Fifth and Seventh Fleets’ areas of responsibility. He told the graduates that Viewpoint’s focus on exploration and adaptability helped prepare him for leadership in the Navy and that returning to campus was especially meaningful.
