Question 1

Do I need to pay anything to find a Neighborhood Helper?

Accepted Answer

No — browsing The Block is completely free. You can view all Neighborhood Helper profiles and send a request to connect at no cost.

Question 2

How does payment work?

Accepted Answer

Families arrange payment with Neighborhood Helpers directly — cash, Venmo, or whatever works for you. The Block does not take a cut of what helpers earn.

Question 3

Are Neighborhood Helpers background checked?

Accepted Answer

Every Neighborhood Helper on The Block is someone we know, or someone vouched for by a helper or family we know — real neighbors, not strangers from the internet. That said, we recommend meeting briefly before a first job.

Question 4

What kinds of help can I find?

Accepted Answer

Babysitting, tutoring, dog walking, errands, driving, homework help, tech help, home organization, and more. Each Neighborhood Helper lists the specific services they offer on their profile along with their rates.

Question 5

How do I know what a Neighborhood Helper charges?

Accepted Answer

Each Neighborhood Helper's profile shows a 'What I charge' table with their rates per service — for example, $18/hr for babysitting or $25 per dog walk. You can see this before booking.

Question 6

Can I book two Neighborhood Helpers at once?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Some Neighborhood Helpers sign up as a duo or group. When you connect with a group Neighborhood Helper, you'll get the whole team coordinated in one step — great for larger jobs.

Question 7

What if a Neighborhood Helper doesn't show up or isn't a good fit?

Accepted Answer

If something doesn't work out, contact us and we'll help you find a better Neighborhood Helper.

Question 8

How do I contact The Block?

Accepted Answer

Email us at hello@theblocklocal.com or use the Support page. We're a small team of real people from the neighborhood — you'll always hear back from someone who actually knows the community.
